UBO is working to improve the well-being (working and studying conditions) of everyone and to become an ever more inclusive institution.

Welcoming and supporting students and staff with disabilities has been a priority for the establishment for many years.

  • To strengthen and equip its action, UBO adopted a multi-year Disability Master Plan in 2017.
  • Within the Human Resources department, an office is in charge of supporting disabled staff.
  • The centre Handiversité, a reception, listening and information center, offers specific support for students.
  • As a member of the "Atypie-Friendly" project, UBO is committed to the inclusion and support of people with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), and more broadly of all students with special needs, within its various establishments.

The "student and campus life contribution" (CVEC) was introduced in 2018 by the "Orientation and success of students" law. The proceeds from this collection are intended to "promote the reception and social, health, cultural and sporting support of students and to bolster the preventive and health education actions carried out for their benefit". With a view to improving the quality of life and work for its staff, UBO has put in place a number of measures to ensure that everyone benefits from an optimal environment. These include

  • an internal action plan drawn up by the Quality of Working Life (QWL) working group,
  • measures to help reconcile work and family life: telecommuting, the adoption of a parenthood charter, a framework for the use of e-mail and the organization of meetings (time slots)...

Since 2017, the university has been organizing events around the issue of improving its professional practices. The ABER day was born out of this reflection and is open to all staff who wish to contribute their point of view in order to progress collectively. To find out more, click here.

Since 2012, the university has had a mission for gender equality. It oversees the implementation of the Charter for Gender Equality in Higher Education signed in January 2013 by the Presidents of the Conference of University Presidents (CPU now France Université), the Presidents of the Conférences des grandes écoles and engineering schools, and by the Ministers for Women's Rights, Culture and Communication and Higher Education and Research. In particular, the mission works to promote :

  • parity in representative bodies,
  • career equality,
  • parity in training courses...

In accordance with the agreement of November 30, 2018, relating to professional equality between women and men in the Civil Service, UBO has drawn up an action plan that aims to reduce inequalities in the situation between women and men within the university. In particular, it sets out an assessment of the situation in the first quarter of 2021, based on the analyses and actions already carried out.

GOOD TO KNOW

Aware that public purchasing is a powerful lever for action, UBO is systematically integrating environmental and/or social clauses into its public procurement contracts. This is the case for many supply contracts (office supplies, paper, cartridges and toners, maintenance products, network equipment, etc.), as well as for service and works contracts.
Certain purchases, below the thresholds for public procurement, are also made from ESAT (Établissement et Service d'Aide par le Travail). These organizations take in people with disabilities who are unable to work in an ordinary or adapted company, or to exercise an independent professional activity.

The University Health Service offers a wide range of services to students: general medical and gynecological appointments, psychological and social support, awareness-raising activities, training courses, wellness workshops...

SEA-EU: training Europe's younger generation, the future actors of societal change

Together with 8 other European universities, the UBO has formed the SEA-EU alliance. One of the alliance's priority objectives is to meet the challenges of sustainable development by training the young generation of Europeans who will be responsible for the expected changes in society.

Combating sexual harassment and violence

A listening unit has been set up. Its role is to identify situations, intervene with actions, guide victims to the appropriate people (social workers, health staff) and support them in their efforts (mediation, complaints, etc.). If you are a victim or witness, members of the unit will listen to you and support you in complete confidentiality.
